Quiet Coyote

work in progress

QUIET COYOTE is a piece of speculative fiction, following a young woman named Sylvie, who goes on a journey to reunite with her estranged childhood friends from the Shelter, an ominous boarding school designed to keep them apart. As Sylvie unearths buried memories and confronts the haunting secrets of their past, she begins to question the true cost of their bond—and whether it was ever worth it. Combining the institutional horror of NEVER LET ME GO with the social engineering of THE HANDMAID’S TALE, QUIET COYOTE explores the price of connection in a world determined to keep us isolated.

For over ten years, Sylvie has tried to forget what happened at the Shelter—a secluded boarding school where girls were separated into a rigid caste system designed to mold them into particular societal roles. Now, she’s on her way to reunite with the only friends who shared her strange and fractured youth. But as she draws closer to the old grounds, memories surface: not just of her friends, but of unsettling, secretive forces that the school tried to bury along with their bond. Sylvie realizes that this reunion is not just a chance to reconnect; it’s a journey to confront the dark truth of who they became—who the Shelter always intended them to be—and whether the price of their friendship was too high.
