About

Lara Waas is a fiction writer based in New York City. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University, where she was nominated for the Henfield Prize. Her short stories have appeared in Narrative, LIT, Thin Air, The Metaworker, Flash Fiction Magazine, and elsewhere. She serves as Assistant Fiction Editor at Narrative and is an incoming Adjunct Professor at Columbia University.

Before moving to New York, Lara earned her BA in Comparative Literature from the University of Munich in Germany, where she later taught undergraduate classes and worked as a research fellow. She also spent a few months in Guatemala teaching English, enjoys traveling, and knows the names of all the bodega cats in her neighborhood—Mittens, Ashtray, and Shadow, among others.
